Excellent post on Seeds of Growth which refers to an article in BusinessWeek about Chipotle’s success without the use of traditional advertising as it’s counterparts McDonald’s and Taco Bell. They have enjoyed explosive revenue and share growth, largely by focusing on creating word-of-mouth or buzz, and less on throwing money at advertising. How did Chipotle get people talking? Gave away FREE burritos, of course. Nothing better than getting people to sample the goods – if the goods are great – to get them talking.
